National Portrait Gallery hangs image of Salinger

<div id="subtitle">National Portrait Gallery installs image of 'The Catcher in the Rye' author</div><div><p>The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery is installing a portrait of "The Catcher in the Rye" author J.D. Salinger.</p><p>Salinger died Wednesday at age 91.</p><p>The museum will hang a portrait by Robert Vickery on Monday in a first-floor gallery designated for remembrance of people who have died recently.</p><p>The portrait depicts Salinger against a metaphorical amber wave of grain. The image appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 1961.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=68252355&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
