Poultry group opposes Cardin's Chesapeake Bay bill

<div id="subtitle">Poultry group says US Sen. Cardin's Chesapeake Bay bill threatens industry</div><div><p>A poultry group says Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin's Chesapeake Bay restoration bill threatens the industry, a claim disputed by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.</p><p>Delmarva Poultry Industry, which represents poultry farmers, processors and employees, says the bill would put Delmarva poultry farmers at a disadvantage because they would face more regulation than the rest of the country. The group supports a reauthorization of the current bay program.</p><p>Doug Siglin of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation accuses Delmarva Poultry of making false and misleading claims about the bill. Siglin says the bill would put into law for the first time binding pollution reduction goals and penalties for failing to meet them.</p><p>Siglin also says the bill has additional funding for farmers to cut pollution.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=66330239&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
