Rolls-Royce wins $720mln Virgin engine order

<div><p>Rolls-Royce, the maker of plane engines, said Friday that it had won an order worth 435 million pounds for engines to power 10 Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330 aircraft.</p><p>The contract covers supply of the Trent 700 engines and their long-term maintenance.</p><p>Delivery will begin in 2011.</p><p>Rolls-Royce said the order "continues a strong relationship with Virgin Atlantic, which first ordered Rolls-Royce engines in 1997".</p><p>In a joint statement, Steve Ridgway, Virgin Atlantic chief executive, said the choice "was based on both cost and environmental benefits and the Trent 700 was our choice on both grounds".</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=62272981&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
